Secure the shoot day before the date
Before you book a crew and rent equipment, the shoot day is secured. That's exactly what the milestone before the shoot is for – a client cancellation then doesn't cost you anything.
Clarify music licensing
Music needs licences, and YouTube, Instagram and TV each have different rules. Clarify who buys the licence – usually the client – and how long it's valid.
Handle raw footage delivery separately
Raw footage is often unpaid value. Decide: "raw footage is not handed over" or "handover of raw files for an extra fee". Both are common.
Frequently asked questions
What if the shoot day falls through?
Define from when a cancellation counts as a completed shoot day, e.g. under 48 hours.
Does the client get the raw footage?
Only if agreed – often as its own milestone.
Why Stipme instead of an invoice?
Your client reserves the budget for each milestone in advance with the payment partner Stripe. You start with security, and they only pay on approval — automatically after 72 hours (excluding weekends).
