Count screens or flows, not hours
"Designing the app" isn't a defined scope. Count screens or flows ("up to 15 screens", "three core flows"). Every extra screen can transparently be added as its own milestone.
Define who provides test users
Research needs interview partners. Agree that the client provides them. If they're missing at the start date, the deadline shifts – without any blame falling on you.
Make handover to development its own criterion
"Handover" is the most common source of disputes. Define it concretely: Figma file with specs, component list, one handover call. Only then does the milestone count as delivered.
Frequently asked questions
How do I define "all screens"?
List the screens in the acceptance criteria, or name a maximum, e.g. "up to 15 screens".
Is usability testing included?
Only if you write it in. Otherwise it can be offered as its own milestone.
Why Stipme instead of an invoice?
Your client reserves the budget for each milestone in advance with the payment partner Stripe. You start with security, and they only pay on approval — automatically after 72 hours (excluding weekends).
