How to avoid disputes

Name the type of usage clearly

Print, web, merchandising – each use has its own value. State the scope concretely ("one-time print as book cover, digital for social media"). Wider reach means a new agreement.

Changes after the sketch phase cost extra

The sketch phase is where direction is decided. After that, only the chosen sketch is worked up – new ideas are a new commission. Write that into the criteria.

Note exclusivity separately

Whether the client gets sole use or you may show the illustration in your portfolio makes a price difference. Exclusivity costs extra – name it.

Frequently asked questions

What about reprints?

Define the scope of use. Further uses can be offered later as a new Stip.

Do I need to secure the sketch phase?

Yes – the sketch milestone in particular protects you from clients who disappear after seeing the concepts.

Why Stipme instead of an invoice?

Your client reserves the budget for each milestone in advance with the payment partner Stripe. You start with security, and they only pay on approval — automatically after 72 hours (excluding weekends).
