Materials cost in the first milestone
Materials cost money before any work becomes visible. The first milestone ("materials ordered and delivered") secures exactly that outlay – the most common point where tradespeople lose money.
Submit photos as proof
Attach photos when submitting: progress, finished surfaces, details. The client sees exactly what was done when approving – that builds trust instead of disputes.
Extra work in writing
"Could you also just…" comes up almost every time. The answer: "Sure, I'll add a milestone for that." Anything added in writing is cleanly secured.
